When it comes to weight loss, nutrition plays a vital role. But here’s the thing, even though we want to meet our weight loss goals, we also want to make choices that will help with overall health.


First, one of the biggest impacts is calorie deficit. We need to know what our calorie deficit is to know what goal we’re aiming for. Otherwise, this is like driving in the dark with no headlights. We need to have some idea of the impact caused by the food we consume.


Another way to observe our impact is by the types of foods we intake. We have to look to see if we are eating more nutritious and wholesome foods (veggies, fruits, lean meats, vegan options, healthy fats) or if we’re eating more processed foods (cake, sugar, soda, chips/crackers, white flour). A great way to have awareness of the whether we’re eating wholesome of processed is to track our food using food log. This can be written on paper or we can use Google Docs or a fitness app to track.


After we have a better understanding of the foods we’re eating and the impact it’s having on our weight, then we can adjust to eating more wholesome foods and start limiting the processed foods. Adhering more to these guidelines will benefit us big time in meeting our weight loss goals.
